My New Condo

Having lived in houses ever since I was born, I've decided to spend the rest of my life in a condominium.

First Housewarming Party

Sunday, June 01, 2008

I have moved in the condominium since May 27 with my mom. Dear, my son, has already stayed here on weekdays since last year. So now our family are happy living together.

The living room is full of books and pillows. I can read the books and fall to sleep easily.

The dining room is still clean and white. I will try to keep it this way.

All the kitchen storages, especially the refrigerator, are packed with food and food supplies.

My bedroom

The working desk in my bedroom is occupied by computers, printers, fax machine, stationeries, etc. Where can I work?

The wine cooler and small refrigerator in my bedroom are fully packed.

Walk-in closet

Dressing table

My bathroom

Mom is sleeping comfortably in her bedroom.

Her bathroom is rather small but handy.

The patio is the perfect place for relaxing.

Wet clothes were hung on the drying racks in the back balcony, which takes time to dry as the sunlight is minimal.

The maid's room is rather small but contains everything she needs.

The condo balconies after the trees were installed.

Boxes were still scattered all over the condo. I expect to be able to finish unpacking and sorting everything in a week.

Outdoor Furnitures

I have bought a set of patio outdoor wooden tables and benches from Index Living Mall.

A Harbor Town Lazboy Sofa was bought for Mom. She should be comfortable sitting here while watching soap opera on the TV or playing her favorite word puzzles.

Birds and Pigeons

Pigeons and birds keep attacking my condo. Their droppings are left on the balconies and the walls. Just recently a couple of birds have built their "home" inside the air vent, which has not been in use during the time that I went to Hokkaido. To scare them off, I am now using scarecrows, which are crows or owls, to deter them. They have not come back ever since but I will have to closely monitor to see if they really work.

Sell the House

I have stopped updating my New Condo blog since I finished renovating in October last year. Dear, my son, has moved in but I still live in my house in Soi Sukhumvit 65 with my mother. I have tried to sell my house since then. There were quite a lot of interested buyers including agencies but the deal did not go through. Finally in the beginning of March, just when I came back from Hokkaido, I got an offer to buy at a satisfactory price. The buyer is a French man who is living in an apartment in Bangkok. We signed an agreement to buy and to sell on March 19 and expect to transfer the house and the land within May.

I have two months to move out. I have contacted Big Move, a professional movers company, to handle the moving for us. Actually I have already moved some of my personal belongings to the condo since it was finished. Things that are left and need to be moved now are mostly furnitures, electrical appliances, clothes, trees, etc. Two months should be OK for me.

Dear tried the piano after it was moved from the house to the condo.

Dear has moved in and his bedroom is not as tidy as it used to be.

His working desk is full of computers, computer accessories, and computer games.

The kitchen is still not occupied, since Dear comes home late from work and he is not the cooking type. It will be used when I cook for him on weekends.

The paintings have been installed in the condo. Most of them were collected and bought at very cheap prices when they were on sale.

The dining room

The curtains in every bedroom have two layers, the uncoated fabric at the front and the separate blockout coated fabric attached at the rear to serve as the insulative heat protection.

The curtain in the living room also has two layers, but the coated fabric at the rear is not as thick as the bedroom's, thus allowing some light to pass through.

I chose the coated fabric roller blind for the dining room, to avoid the food smell from cooking.

Last week I went to Mae Fah Luang shop in Suam Lum Night Bazaar. Mae Fah Luang is the manufacturer of handicrafted products such as carpets, textiles, home decorative items, etc. , under the royal patronages. The products were usually made from cotton or silk and nicely hand-woven by the cottage people mostly in Doi Tung in the north of Thailand. Fortunately they were on sale and I managed to buy some nice carpets and decorative items.

A cotton carpet for the living room.

A red carpet for Dear's bedroom. The bean bag was however bought elsewhere at a very cheap price.

The living room and the dining room are connected when the door is opened.

The dining table and chairs are also from Sitz Shop.

The 40" LCD TV (Sony) was installed by Dear while the Home Theatre (Harman Kandon and Infinity) was installed by M.I. Engineering.

The new furnitures arrived. They were made by Sitz Shop Studio, an interior firm in Suan Lum Night Bazaar.

Since the storage room was rather small, a number of shelves were installed to add more storage spaces.

Aluminium plate was used as air conditioner grill in the living room.

After being cleaned, Mom's bathroom looked neater and much nicer.

Her bathroom was designed for elderly people so there were quite a number of handles to assist her.

I also bought a bathroom chair for her so that she can comfortably sit while taking a bath.
